1908 Charity Bazaar

On June 6, 1908, about 20,000 visitors enjoyed a charity bazaar at Holm Lea, raising $30,000 for the Welcome House Industrial Home for Women in Dorchester. The Welcome House was a shelter and training facility for homeless women. According to the Brookline Chronicle, attractions included booths selling toiletries and china, al fresco theatre and a Vienna Buffet.
